White Ripple Baby Dress, Size 12-18 Months, Crochet Pattern

I have a few baby dress patterns in size 0-3 months and 3-6 months in my Etsy shop, and I've been getting a lot of requests for baby dress patterns for larger sizes.

Finally, here is a baby dress in size 12-18 months.

This dress is made with fine, category 2, cotton and acrylic blend yarn, and a hook size E/4 (3.5 mm).

The cotton and acrylic blend yarn gives a light texture, that is suitable for a summer dress.

I do believe the dress would look much prettier on a child, rather than on my mannequin.

The pattern is available in my Etsy and Craftsy shops.

Victorian Crochet Baby Dress and Hat

Crocheting baby dresses and hats is so much fun. Then dressing up my doll Lucy and taking pictures is even more fun. I love how she looks in this lace outfit.

This is not a vintage pattern; this is my own pattern. This baby set has such an old-fashioned and angelic look to it, so I named it Victorian.

The dress and hat are made of super fine (category 1, fingering, lace) yarn. I used size E/4 (3.5 mm) hook. The size is newborn.

The pattern is available in my Etsy shop. Right now it's 50% OFF, but only for a limited time.

Lacy Baby Sacque, Free Vintage Pattern

A couple of weeks ago I made a lacy bonnet (shown bellow), and now I made a matching baby jacket.

The pattern was from Woollies for Babies, Book No. 197, Chadwick's Red Heart Wools, by The Spool Cotton Company, 1943.

I used the same yarn as for the bonnet, which was a leftover category 1 yarn from my stash. I'm not sure what size hook I used. I just went alone with a steel hook that felt comfortable for this yarn. It's a vintage hook, and all it says on it is "Boye 1", and on the other side "U.S.A. 10 cents".

The pattern is not difficult, however it's not a very detailed one. So I wouldn't recommend it to novices. Otherwise, this baby sacque was fun to make. And it looks adorable on my 20-inch doll.

The original pattern suggests to make three button loop and sew on three buttons, but I only went with two.

GAUGE: (Yoke) 5 sc make 1 inch; 5 rows make 1 inch.

YOKE … Ch 56 tightly to measure 9 inches. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 7 ch, * sc in same ch, sc in next 8 ch. Repeat from * to end (61 sc). Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc, increasing 6 sc evenly around. Ch 1, turn. Repeat the 2nd row (but do not make increases directly above previous increases) until Yoke measures 2 inches and there are 115 sts. Ch 3, turn. Next row: Dc at base of ch-3, ch 1, 2 dc in same place, * ch 1, skip 2 sc, in next sc work 2 dc with ch-1 between (small shell made), ch 1, skip 2 sc, in next sc work 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc (large shell made). Repeat from * across (20 large shells in row). Turn. Following row: Sl st in next st and in next sp. Ch 3, in same sp work dc, ch 1 and 2 dc, then * ch 1, work small shell in sp of next small shell, ch 1, work large shell in sp of next large shell. Repeat from * across. Repeat the last row 3 more times (5 rows of shells). Fasten off.

SLEEVE … 1st row: Skip 3 large shells, attach yarn in sp of next small shell, ch 4, dc in same sp, ch 1, large shell in sp of next large shell. Continue in pattern across until there are 4 large shells, then work small shell in sp of next small shell. Turn. 2nd row: Sl st in sp, ch 4, dc in same sp and continue in pattern across. Repeat the 2nd row until Sleeve measures 4½ inches. Ch 1, turn. Next row: Work 3 sc in ch-1 sp of each shell (27 sc). Ch 1, turn. Following row: Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat the last row 2 more times. Fasten off. Skip 6 large shells, attach yarn to next small shell and work other Sleeve to correspond. Fasten off.

BODY … Attach yarn to sp of 1st large shell and work in pattern until there are 3 large shells. Ch 1, work small shell in same place where 1st small shell of sleeve was worked, ch 1, small shell in same place where last small shell of sleeve was worked (thus joining) and continue in pattern across, joining 2nd underarm in same way. Turn. Next row: Work in pattern until there are 3 small shells, ch 1, work large shell in ch-1 at underarm, ch 1 and continue in pattern across, making another large shell at other underarm. Turn. Work in pattern until work measures 7 inches from bottom of Yoke. Next row: Sl st in next st and in next sp. Ch 3, dc in same sp, ch 3, sc in 3rd ch from hook (picot made); 2 dc in same sp, * ch 1, dc in sp of small shell, picot, dc in same sp, ch 1, 2 dc in sp of large shell, picot, 2 dc in same sp. Repeat from * across. Fasten off.    Work a row of sc along front edge of right side of yoke, making three ch-2 button loops. Sew sleeve seams.

Baby Blanket, Baby Dresses

Hello bloging friends,

It's been another unexpected break from bloging for me, but now I'm back.

Later this week, I will post a tutorial for a pretty and easy crochet stitch (I just finished editing the photos). But today I have a few inspiring things to share.

The first one is a Diamond Stitch Baby Blanket made by Jessa Mae. I absolutely love how her blanket turned out. The yarn was a perfect choice; the stripes really add another dimension to the pattern. I think it looks even better than my original blanket in solid color. By the way, the free pattern is available here.

Thank you Jessa Mae for sharing your work and permitting me to share it with other crafters.

Now just look at these photos! Doesn't your heart melt? Mine does!

What an adorable little girl! Her name is Jemimah, and she is the daughter of my bloging friend Sarah, who writes blog Lilacs and Springtime. Jemimah is modeling baby dresses that I've made in the past and gifted Sarah last year.

The dress in this photo was designed by another bloging friend  Sarah from Sarahsweethearts

And these two dresses were my own design. Both patterns are available in my Etsy and Craftsy shops.

God bless little Jemimah and thank you Sarah for sharing the photos.

Lacy Baby Dress, My New Crochet Pattern and Giveaway

Here is a new pattern that I added to my Etsy and Craftsy shops. This dress is light and perfect for summer. It's made with 100% cotton thread size ten, and 1.25 mm steel hook.
The pattern is available in size 3-6 months.

The dress is too big for my doll; she's more of a size newborn. But it still looks cute on her.

Leave me a comment bellow if you like this dress and want to participate in my giveaway. I will randomly draw three people and email them my pattern. I will announce the winners next week.

Thank you for stopping by and enjoy your weekend!

New Preemie Patterns

I recently added a few preemie patterns to my Etsy and Craftsy stores.

This preemie dress is made with light worsted baby yarn and size F hook. It’s very easy and quick to make, and only basic stitches (dc, sc, sl st, ch) were used in this pattern. The dress is quite small; it will also fit a 20-inch doll.

The preemie hats are made with cluster stitch. Again they are made with light worsted baby yarn and size F hook. The measurements are about 11 inches in circumference and 4 inches in height.
A similar pattern in size 3-6 months is also available in my shops.

And the last pattern is a super easy to make diaper cover. It’s made with very soft cotton yarn and size H hook.

Thank you for stopping by and enjoy the Holiday Season!

Two New Patterns: Baby Dress and Girls Hat

Hello fellow crafters,

I recently added a couple of new patterns to my Etsy and Craftsy shops.

The first one is a baby dress made with crochet cotton thread size ten in two strands and crochet hook size D (3.25 mm). This pattern involves 2-dc clusters and 3-dc clusters. The size is approximately 3-6 months. The dress has an opening with a small button on the back. I wrote a very detailed pattern including stitch count for each row and round.

The second pattern is for a crochet girl's hat size 3-5 years old, made with 100% acrylic yarn. The skill level for this hat is beginner. The hat itself is very easy to make (the pattern is very detailed and includes stitch count). However, the flower is a bit complicated.

Crochet Baby Dress, Size 0-1 Months

Do you remember the baby dress that I made back in February? I liked my pattern, but I wasn’t very happy with my yarn choice (I used worsted weight yarn, and my dress turned out too heavy).

I tried the same pattern with light worsted (size 3) yarn, which worked wonderfully. To be specific I used one skein of Beehive Baby Sport by Patons (70% acrylic, 30% nylon). That yarn is very soft and easy to work with.

I think this dress looks just as lovely in variegated yarn as in two solid colors.

I wrote a very detailed pattern for the dress and I included several pictures of the yoke since that’s the most challenging part. But overall the skill level for this pattern is easy and I believe even a beginner can make this dress.

The pattern is available for sale in my Etsy shop.

Baby Dress with Flowers

Over the last year, I have designed quite a few baby blankets. I also have made tons of doilies. I feel now it’s time to venture into something new. Perhaps crochet baby dresses?

I’ve only made a few of baby dresses in the past using other people’s patterns. But of course I want to learn making my own designs.

So here is my first attempt.

I am both pleased and disappointed with it. I’m pleased because it looks cute and the pattern is not complicated, but I’m disappointed because my baby dress didn’t come out its intended size. I made a mistake by choosing worsted weight yarn while I should’ve used something lighter. The intended size was 0-3 months, but the finished size is about 12 months. What is more, the dress came out somewhat heavy and bulky.

I’m going to make this same dress with light worsted or DK yarn instead. I’ll share the results with you later.

Angel Wings Pinafore Newborn Dress

Isn’t this baby dress adorable? It was designed by Maxine Gonser, and the pattern is available for free. Click here for the pattern.

I so much enjoyed crocheting this dress. For me there is always something very special and touching about crocheting for little ones.

My husband and I have friends who are expecting their second child some time around Thanksgiving. They don’t know the gender of the baby as they want it to be a surprise. Their first child is a boy, so they have all the needed baby clothing for another boy. However, if they have a baby girl, a girl’s attire will be appreciated.

So I secretly hope for a baby girl. I’d love to give this lovely dress to her (as well as a few other crocheted goodies).

Plumeria Baby Dress

A fellow crocheter and blogging friend Sarah from Sarahsweethearts… offered me to test the pattern for her recent creation – Plumeria Baby Dress. I fell in love with the dress when I saw it on Sarah’s Facebook page, so of course I agreed to try the pattern!

Once I started crocheting this adorable dress, I couldn’t stop. As a result, I made it all in one evening!

I used pale pink leftover Snuggly Wuggly yarn by Loops and Threads. The dress came out very soft and airy. Perfect for a little princess! What a lovely present this baby dress would make.

Sarah’s pattern is available for purchase on Ravelry and Craftsy.
