Doily of the Week #20: Pineapple Doilies by Mindy

Hello my crocheting friends!
I am back from my spring break. I had a wonderful couple of weeks off, spending time with extended family and friends. I didn’t do much crocheting, but I contemplated many new projects and worked on a spider stitch swatch pattern. I was also invited to participate at a local fair as a crochet vendor (I haven’t decided yet if I will)!

Now let’s get to Doily of the Week! Mindy from “In the Loop” kindly permitted me to share some of her work. I picked these two beautiful doilies. The pineapple stitch is very popular, especially in crocheted doilies and tablecloths as it is a symbol of hospitality and warm welcome. Visit Mindy’s blog to find the patterns (green pineapple doily, white pineapple doily).

Thank you Mindy for sharing these lovely doilies with us!

Spring Break

My baby’s first birthday is approaching; my mother-in-law is coming for a visit; and dear friends from abroad are going to be in California this month! So I’m going to take a break from blogging and crocheting for a couple of weeks. I will be back on April 21!
Have a happy Easter weekend with your families!

Crochet Flower Tutorial

This pattern should work for any kind of yarn. Try hooks of different sizes to find the right one.

crochet flower tutorial

Start with chain 53.

how to crochet a flower

Double crochet in third chain from the hook. Double crochet in every following chain. Turn.

Single crochet in next space. Double crochet 5 in next space. Single crochet in next space. Double crochet 5 in next space. Repeat until the end of row.

Finish off but leave a yarn tail long enough to sew the flower together. Wave in the short yarn tail on the other end of the work.

Use a tapestry needle. Little by little, roll the flower and stitch together.

Doily of the Week #19: Two Doilies by Charlotte

Hello and welcome to Doily of the Week!

I am happy to show you today two gorgeous doilies made by a fellow blogger and crocheter Charlotte from Charlotte’s Web Page.

The first one is called Amour, and to me it looks like a round dance of angels. So beautiful! The second one is called My Love. I think it will be perfect for a romantic summer tea setting in a garden. Both patterns are from The Big Book of Doilies.
You can see more of Charlotte’s doilies here.

Thank you, Charlotte for sharing your beautiful work with us.
