Beautiful Crochet Lace Stitch for a Baby Blanket, Free Pattern and Video Tutorial

Here is a beautiful lacy stitch for a baby blanket or a scarf!

The skill level is intermediate. I'd say this stitch is a bit complicated, but I filmed a detailed video tutorial!

Multiple of 8, plus 3

Row 1: (dc, ch 2, dc2-clustser) all in 3th ch from hook, skip next 3 ch, sc in next ch, *skip next 3 ch, (dc2-cluster, ch 2, dc2-cluster, ch 2, dc2-cluster) all in next ch, skip next 3 ch, sc in next ch* across to last 4 ch, skip next 3 ch, (dc2-cluster, ch 2, dc2-cluster) all in last ch.

Row 2: ch 1, turn, sc in top of 1st cluster, ch 3, dc in next sc (make dc right in the middle of sc, because if you simply make it in the top two loops, the stitches on the right side of your work will be shifted; see my video tutorial for visual help), *ch 3, sc in top of 2nd (middle) cluster of next group of clusters, ch 3, dc in next sc* across, end with ch 3, sc in top of last cluster.

Row 3: ch 1, turn, sc in 1st sc, *(dc2-cluster, ch 2, dc2-cluster, ch 2, dc2-cluster) all in next dc, sc in next sc* across.

Row 4: ch 6, turn, sc in top of 2nd (middle) cluster of next group of clusters, ch 3, dc in next sc, *ch 3, sc in top of 2nd (middle) cluster of next group of clusters, ch 3, dc in next sc* across.

Row 5: ch 2, turn, (dc, ch 2, dc2-cluster) all in same 1st dc, sc in next sc, *(dc2-cluster, ch 2, dc2-cluster, ch 2-, dc2-cluster) all in next dc, sc in next sc* across, end with (dc2-cluster, ch 2, dc2-cluster) all in 3rd (counting from bottom) ch of turning ch-6.

Repeat Rows 2-5 for the pattern.

  1. This looks lovely and your video is very helpful. Do you have any suggestions on how to calculate the amount of yarn needed for a full size afghan - 60 by 60 inches for example? Thanks!
