Do you have any crochet heirlooms in your family? How old
are they? Who made them?
This beautiful crochet motif tablecloth was made by my
husband’s great-grandmother! My husband and I received it from my mother-in-law
a couple of years ago.
Originally this piece was intended as a bed spread, but
unfortunately the work wasn’t completely finished. But it’s still very beautiful
and I use it as a small tablecloth quite often.
One of the things on my endless crochet to-do list is to try
to reconstruct this motif pattern. It doesn’t seem too complicated, but it will
take some time of experimenting before I figure it out.
Me encanta el color con la que la has hecho, el color blanco es un color muy elegante, besos.

Wow Olga, this is such a beautiful family heirloom! How wonderful to have this and I am sure it's a joy to use :) And it would have been quite the stunning bed spread! Hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Such a beautiful piece! It certainly looks to be a motif that could be duplicated!
ReplyDeleteIt is gorgeous and such a treasure. I have several tatting pieces from my Grandmother and her Mother, also my Grandmother's weeding nightgown that has beautiful tatting on it.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you,
Meredith
I don't have any from my family, but I have made a few crochet lap quilts for my kids and grandkids. I am trying to start the tradition of making things to be handed down in our family now.
ReplyDeleteIt's very beautiful. My grandma said she used to crochet curtains but unfortunately I haven't even seen any of them.
ReplyDeletethat is beautiful, and not only a testament to your ggmother in law's skills and love, but to the loving care of all the generations since then. My ggmother, for whom I'm named, was a whiz at crochet. Eleven years ago, visiting my dad's cousin, he saw me crocheting and brought out her work from a closet - a very dirty and lovely bedspread. I didn't even know, until I saw your picture, that such old work could be lovingly cared for and made so beautiful for the coming generations. You are blessed and I thank you for inspiring me to keep on making beautiful keepsakes for my descendants - I might just include care instructions, though!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. =)

Unfortunately I don't have any heirlooms that way, but I share your happiness about this fantastic beauty :-).
ReplyDeleteI have a similar piece. It was in my grandmother's basement, but she didn't crochet. Unfortunately, we don't know its story.
Would you please post a close up photo of this motif? It is a beautiful pattern. :)
