Crochet Lace Skirt

Ta-dah! Finally, I can show you my new crochet skirt!

It took me a long time to make it. I believe I started it back in November, and it took me several long months to complete it. The memories associated with making this skirt are rainy winter mornings and watching British mystery TV shows (Poirot, Miss Marple, Midsomer Murders). After the first several rounds, it became the kind of project that your hands are working and your mind is somewhere else.

I intended to make this skirt a bit longer, but those stitches are tiny, and quite soon the rounds grew just endless. I do praise myself for not giving it all up!

I used crochet cotton thread size ten, and a steel hook 1.25 mm. The pattern actually was for a dress, but I didn’t like the upper part, so I only used the symbol chart for the skirt. Unfortunately, I cannot share the pattern as it is under copyrights protection.

The patter was from the Russian crochet magazine Zhyrnal Mod, Kruchok, #567, 2013 (Журнал Мод, Крючок, Номер 567, 2013 год).

  7. Hi Olga, It looks so pretty on you !! :) That's a lot of work with 1.25 mm hook and size ten thread. Does it have adjustable waist ?

    1. Thank you Preeti. Yes, it's adjustable. The waist is somewhat big, and I passed a cord, which I tie to adjust the skirt. So even if I gain a size or two, the skirt will still fit me.

  10. It is beautiful Olga, and with thread, it will probably be a little longer as the stitches relax a bit. I've made a dress and skirt for myself from thread and they both ended up longer than I had worked them from the weight of the thread and the stitches relaxing. You did a wonderful job, its lovely.

  18. Dearest Olga,
Congrats on following through with this fine needle of 1.25 mm! It looks fabulous and the way you show it YOU look fabulous too; like a runway fashion model.
When I was in my 20s and 30s I did crochet mini dresses (thank goodness there came an end to it sooner!).
    Hugs to you,
    Mariette
