For this newborn hat I used the same lacy stitch as
for the Lacy Baby Blanket. So if you’ve made that blanket, you can now crochet
a matching baby hat!
This is a newborn size baby hat, but I'll try to work out the pattern for a bigger size too.
This pattern is my original design. It cannot be posted on other
sites or distributed in any other form. If you would like to share this
pattern, you can post ONE image on your site with the link to my original post.
You can use this pattern to make items for personal use or for sale. If you
sell finished items from this pattern, you must give design credit to Lacy
Crochet blog (lacycrochet.blogspot.com). Please, respect my work. Thank you!
The hat measures 13 inches in circumference and 5 inches in hight.
I used Snuggly Wuggly yarn by Loops and Threads and
size E (3.5mm) hook.
Gauge: 3 first rounds = 3.5 inches. If you gauge
is slightly bigger, that’s not a problem; you will get a baby hat size 0-3
months. However, if your gauge is slightly smaller, you’ll get a baby hat size
preemie.
In this pattern V-st is (dc, ch 1, dc) all in same
space.
Also, when I refer to “shell”, I mean 3 dc in same
space.
Ch 5, join with sl st into ring.
Round 1: Ch 4, *dc in ring, ch 1* 11 times. Join with sl st into 3rd ch of beginning ch-4.

Ольга, очаровательная шапочка для малышки!
ReplyDeleteOn round 5 I do ch3 and join. Rnd says ch3 2dc in same space, however rnd 5 you join to top of beginning ch3 - which space??
ReplyDeleteI'm doing something wrong, mine looks like a preemie hat, but it's very cute
ReplyDeleteMine to, very small.
Deleteon row 8. Where it says *ch3, sc in space between next 2nd and 3rd dc, Does that mean the next shell or the same shell? or between shell 1 & 2?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Pattern! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI notice you said you were new at writing patterns, might I suggest that beginning in Round 5 perhaps say work in the stitch rather than in the space. It does not line up correctly when done in the space.
Beautiful Hat.
I think there's an error on round 5, skipping 4 v stitch SPACESHIP allows for only doing the part in asterisks once, then part doing it end ending the round. I gave it the benefit of the doubt, but after round 6 I can only fit 3 fingers in the width of the hat opening, this would barely fit a baby born at 24 weeks!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while since I made this hat. Just by looking at the written pattern and the photo now, I think it should be skip 4 stitches (dc and ch would count as a stitch each), not spaces. I would have to make this hat again to figure out the problem. Thank you for pointing it out.
DeleteI mean SPACES not SPACESHIP!
DeleteThis is so cute and just what I am looking for. I just made a hippy vest for a 5 year old in a v-stitch pattern. I wanted to make her a hat to match and this would go perfectly. How could I make adjustments to make a bigger hat for her using this pattern. Multiple of stitches, etc. Thanks for any info and help you can give.
ReplyDeleteHi Mandy,
DeleteIt's been quite a long time since I made this hat. Back then I was just beginning to design and write my patterns, and being just my amateur attempts, they weren't very detailed.
The multiple for the 'lacy stitch' starting at Round 5, is 11. Unfortunately, I cannot offer any more info/help on adjusting this hat to a bigger size. I would have to completely re-work the pattern.
