Tiny Tulips Baby Blanket, Free Crochet Pattern

I named this baby blanket Tiny Tulips not only because it’s the color name of the variegated yarn that I used, but also because the shells used in this stitch do slightly remind me of tulips.

This baby blanket is made using exactly one ball (892 yards) of Bernat Baby Sport yarn. The stitch is simple enough, involving only two repeating rows. In case you would like to use this stitch for another project, it’s a multiple of 8, plus 1.

This pattern is my original design. It cannot be posted on other sites or distributed in any other form. If you would like to share this pattern, you can post ONE image on your site with the link to my original post. You can use this pattern to make items for personal use or for sale. If you sell finished items from this pattern, you must give design credit to Lacy Crochet blog (lacycrochet.blogspot.com). I put a lot of time and honest work into creating my designs, so please, respect my work. Thank you!

  16. I love the pattern and yarn that is used in this blanket as well and am attempting to make it, however, I need a little clarification, please. At the end of Row 2, the instructions read to "dc in 2nd ch of turning ch-3," but the first time we come to that there are actually 5 chain spaces as that is from the end of Row 1 where we are instructed to "shell in 6th ch from hook." Would we still dc in the 2nd chain from the hook, or in the 4th, leaving 1 chain space as we would from then on whenever we come to the end of Row 2? I want to be sure to dc in the correct chain so that the sides of the blanket will be straight. Thank you so much for sharing your time and your talent with us!

  19. i just happened to buy this yarn today for a basketweave pattern i was going to try but decided it needed a more lace like pattern so in my search i found your beautiful and appropriately named pattern! i started crocheting the blanket this morning and realized that this pattern does not include an ending row... as it is your last row's edge will be all the hills and valleys the shells and ch3 spaces create which would be fine if the beginning edge looked the same... not sure yet how i will do it but i will have to come up with a finishing row and probably a border as well, i'm not as experienced at crochet as yourself but i'm working on it and will hopefully one day crochet creations as lovely as your work... =)

    1. i figured out what i'm going to do to finish the blanket and it will be keeping the hills n' valleys your last row creates, thank you for the free and pretty pattern!

  20. I too love this pattern. It works up quickly and is fantastic. I even made it into a baby hat. I simply worked the ribbing and then did 8 rounds of the tulips and then did a couple of rounds to close it in at the top. thanks so much for sharing!

  21. I noticed you have 2 different patterns both called Tiny Tulips baby blanket. I just finished this blanket calling for 141 Chains. But the very last instruction says to Sl st to join round. Do I then cut the yarn and weave it in? I am a new crocheter. Thanks I love the blanket. Sylvia

  22. How do you finish off the last row?

    ReplyDelete
  23. I dont know if you still look and answer questions. after the last row how do you get it either straight edged or make the border go around it?

    1. For the border, crochet sc evenly around. After the first round, it probably won't have a straight edge, so add another round of sc. It should have a much better edge now and you can use any border of your choice.

  24. What are the measurments of this afghan? I started with 141 stitches. I am still working on it, but am wondering how long to make it. I will add a border all around when finished.
