Lacy Ripple Crochet Stitch

I started working on this project a few months ago. I wanted to make a wide scarf, but somewhere alone the way I changed my mine about the color and the texture. So I'm going to unravel this crochet piece. But before I do so, I thought I should share the stitch pattern. It is a beautiful stitch, which can be used for a variety of crochet projects. 

Multiple of 16, plus 2 (I started with ch 50)

Row 1: sc in 2^nd ch from hook, *ch 5, skip next 3 ch, sc in next ch* across. 

Row 2: ch 4, turn; sc in next ch-5 space, ch 5, sc in next ch-5 space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next sc, *{sc in next ch-5 space, ch 5} three times, sc in next ch-5 space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next sc* across to last 2 ch-5 spaces; sc in next ch-5 space, ch 5, sc in last ch-5 space, ch 2, dc in last sc.

Row 3: ch 1, turn; sc in 1^st dc, ch 5, sc in next ch-5 space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next sc, sc in next ch-1 space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next sc, *{sc in next ch-5 space, ch 5} twice, sc in next ch-5 space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next sc, sc in next ch-1 space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next sc* across to last ch-5 space, sc in last ch-5 space, ch 5, sc in 2^nd ch (counting from bottom) of turning ch-4.

Row 4: ch 4, turn; sc in next ch-5 space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next sc, sc in next ch-1 space, ch 5, sc in next ch-1 space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next sc, sc in next ch-5 space, *ch 5, sc in next ch-5 space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next sc, sc in next ch-1 space, ch 5, sc in next ch-1 space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next sc, sc in next ch-5 space* across to last sc, ch 2, dc in last sc.

Row 6: ch 2, turn; 2 dc in 1^st sc, sc in next ch-1 space, ch 5, sc in next ch-5 space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next sc, sc in next ch-5 space, ch 5, sc in next ch-1 space, *(2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next sc, sc in next ch-1 space, ch 5, sc in next ch-5 space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next sc, sc in next ch-5 space, ch 5, sc in next ch-1 space* across, 3 dc in last sc.

Row 7: ch 1, turn; sc in 1^st dc, ch 5, sc in next ch-5 space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next sc, sc in next ch-1 space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next sc, sc in next ch-5 space, ch 5, *sc in next ch-1 space, ch 5, sc in next ch-5 space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next sc, sc in next ch-1 space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in next sc, sc in next ch-5 space, ch 5* across, sc in 2^nd ch of turning ch-2.

Repeat Rows 4-7.

Crochet Cross Bookmark, Free Vintage Pattern

The pattern for this bookmark is from Crochet and Tatting Heirloom Edition, Star Book #66 by American Thread Company, 1949.

I used a steel hook size 1.25 mm and size ten crochet cotton thread. You will also need about 1/4 yard of narrow ribbon.

I post the pattern below exactly as it appears in the original publication.

Suggestion: Use a bit of clear glue to secure the ends of the ribbon. 

Ch 11, dc in 4th st from hook, ch 2, skip 2 sts of ch, sl st in next st, ch 2, skip 2 sts of ch, 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts, ch 3, turn.


2nd Row - dc in next dc, ch 5, 1 dc in next dc, dc in 3rd st of ch, ch 3, to turn each row.

3rd Row - Repeat 2nd row.

4th Row - dc in next dc, ch 2, skip 2 sts of ch, sl st in next st, ch 2, 1 dc in next dc, dc in 3rd st of ch.

Repeat 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rows 8 times, break thread. Attach threat in top of dc of 22nd row and working alone side, ch 3, dc in next st, ch 5, skip 1 row, 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts, ch 3, turn.

Repeat 2nd, 4th, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rows once, break thread. Work other arm of cross to correspond.

EDGE - Attach thread at lower edge, *ch 3, dc in same space, skip the length of a dc, sl st in next st, repeat from * all around, break thread. Lace ribbon through beading as illustrated.

Shells and Chains Baby Blanket, My New Pattern

I just finished another baby blanket pattern. I named it Shells and Chains because that's basically the main stitch that I used.

The blanket has lacy texture, yet it's not too open. I used 100% acrylic yarn and size H (5 mm) crochet hook.  

The pattern is quite easy. Only tow rows need to be repeated, and only basic stitches are used. For the border, I used the same type of shells. I included very detailed pictures and notes for visual help with the border.
