Shells Baby Blanket with Three Flowers, My Free Pattern

Today I have a new pattern to share! It's a baby blanket with three simple flowers!

But wait! First, I need to announce the baby dress pattern winners from my previous post. They are:

Anna (first comment)
Cindyzs (cindy zemble stewart/freespiritczs)
smocksalot

I'll email you the pattern promptly!

Ok, and now to the new baby blanket. As always I ask all my readers and blog visitors to respect my work and not repost my pattern or sell it on other websites. You can share one picture on your blog or website with a link to my original pattern. And you are welcome to sell finished items made from my pattern. Thank you!

Finished Measurements: approximately 35 by 30 inches

Skill Level: Beginner

Materials:

US Hook size G/6 (4.25 MM)

Light worsted yarn, 1260 yards (worsted weight baby yarn will work too)

For the blanket shown above I used Snuggly Wuggly Big by Loops and Threads

Gauge: not important

Abbreviations:

ch chain

sc single crochet

dc double crochet

rsc reverse single crochet

* * Instructions between asterisks should be repeated as many times as there are stitches to accommodate them.

Ch 122 loosely.

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, *skip 2 ch, 5 dc in next ch, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch* across. (20 shells)

Row 2: ch 3, turn; 2 dc in same beginning space, *sc in 3rd dc of next dc-5, 5 dc in next sc* across, end with sc in 3rd dc of dc-5, 3 dc in last sc. (19 full shells)

Row 3: ch 1, turn; sc in same beginning space, *5 dc in next sc, sc in 3rd dc of next dc-5* across, end with sc 3rd ch of turning ch-3. (20 shells)

Repeat Rows 2-3 until your blanket is 34 inches long.

Trim:

Round 1: ch 1 (do not turn), sc evenly around the perimeter of the blanket making 3 sc in each corner space; join with sl st to 1st sc.

Round 2: ch 1, make another round of sc, 3 sc in corner spaces; join with sl st to 1st sc.

Round 3: ch 1, rsc in each sc around (here is a good tutorial for reverse single crochet, also known as crab stitch)

Fasten off.

Flower:

Ch 5, join with sl st into a ring.

*Ch 3, 2 tr in ring, ch 3, sl st in ring* five times. Fasten off, but leave a yarn tail long enough to stitch the flower onto the blanket.

And here is a tutorial on how to add the flowers and chain "swirls".

Lay your blanket on a flat surface (I did it on the flour). Place the flowers where you would like to stitch them in the lower right corner of the blanket.

With small pieces of a contrast color yarn, mark the places where the flowers will be stitched on.

Draw the yarn through the fabric in the marked place and chain a "swirl". You need to chain though the fabric, keeping the yarn underneath.

Here is what it looks like on the other side.

Make more "swirls" in the same manner.

Lots of loose ends on the other side.

Weave them in.

Finally stitch on the flowers.

And here you have it!

Lacy Baby Dress, My New Crochet Pattern and Giveaway

Here is a new pattern that I added to my Etsy and Craftsy shops. This dress is light and perfect for summer. It's made with 100% cotton thread size ten, and 1.25 mm steel hook.
The pattern is available in size 3-6 months.

The dress is too big for my doll; she's more of a size newborn. But it still looks cute on her.

Leave me a comment bellow if you like this dress and want to participate in my giveaway. I will randomly draw three people and email them my pattern. I will announce the winners next week.

Thank you for stopping by and enjoy your weekend!
