If you have mastered making spider stitch swatch from my previous post in this series, it will be easy for you to make a bookmark like these two. Just repeat the pattern five times. Then crochet around to make a scalloped edge.
I used crochet thread number 10 and a steel hook size 10.

Ch 23.
Row 1: dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 3, turn.
Row 2: dc in next 8 dc, ch 8, skip next 3 dc, dc in next 9 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 3: dc in next 5 dc, ch 5, skip next 3 dc and 3 ch, sc in next 2 ch, ch 5, skip next 3 ch and 3 dc, dc in next 6 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 4: dc in next 2 dc, ch 5, skip next 3 dc and 3 ch, sc in next 2 ch, sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 2 ch, ch 5, skip next 3 ch and 3 dc, dc in next 3 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 5: dc in next 2 dc, dc in next 3 ch, ch 5, skip next 2 ch and 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc, ch 5, skip next 2 sc and 2 ch, dc in next 3 ch, dc in next 3 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 6: dc in next 5 dc, dc in next 3 ch, ch 3, skip next (2 ch, 2 sc, and 2 ch), dc in next 3 ch, dc in next 6 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 7: dc in next 8 dc, dc in next 3 ch, dc in next 9 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Repeat Rows 2-7 additional four times. In the last row don’t make turning ch 3.
To make the scalloped edging crochet one round at the perimeter of the bookmark.
Working into the end of rows: *ch 4, sc in end of row* across.
Working into the original chain: *ch 4, sc in every other dc* across.
Working into the end of rows: *ch 4, sc in end of row* across.
Working in the last row of the bookmark: *ch 4, sc in every other dc* across.
Fasten off.
